AbiWord (abiword) is a lean and fast full-featured word processor. Features include:

• Basic character formatting (bold, underline, italics, etc.)
• Paragraph alignment
• Spell-check
• Import of Word97 and RTF documents
• Export to RTF, Text, HTML, and LaTeX formats
• Interactive rulers and tabs
• Styles
• Unlimited undo/redo
• Multiple column control
• Widow/orphan control
• Find/Replace
• Images

The AbiSource web site has on-line documentation, FAQs, etc. This package contains two variants of AbiWord -- the default one built for gtk+ alone, and one that also includes GNOME desktop integration.

An assortment of plugins that extend the functionality if abiword is also included. For convenience those plugins that depend on GNOME have been placed in a separate subsystem. Unlike the variants of the main abiword subsystem mentioned above, either or both sets of plugins can be installed simultaneously with either GUI.
